This report is useful for comparing trial balances side by side per year, quarter, or month.
Prerequisite
- Logicim XLGL version 5.0 or higher
- Microsoft Excel 2016 or higher
- Sage 50 Canadian Edition (2014 and above)
What the report does
The Automated trial balance usefulness shines when you need to compare trial balances per specified period. This cuts the time compared to getting two trial balances opened with different periods.
How to use the report
- Cell D1 on the Trial balance worksheet is where you enter the date.
- In the Instructions worksheet, put in the number of periods that you want to compare and the identifier (Year, Quarter, Month) on the dropdown list and then click Create report.
- A new worksheet should appear in the file with the parameters you have set on the Instructions worksheet.

This report would save you time when you are in a time crunch and need to do a comparative analysis of your company’s trial balance.
Troubleshooting
- Issue: No values appear on the worksheet.
- Solution: Ensure your account has the necessary permissions to access the Accounts & General Ledger.

- A: Please ensure that you are connected to the right company by going to the XLGL
Best practices
Always remember to connect to the right company before loading this report. Also, ensure that the Refresh after opening checkbox is checked. This will make the report accurate company-wise and save you some steps, like clicking the Refresh button on the XLGL ribbon.
