Excel is "not responding" while running a report
When refreshing a Logicim XLGL report, Excel may become unresponsive and display the "not responding" message in the title bar. This is normal, as Excel is waiting on Sage 50 to return data.
Depending on the complexity of your report and the amount of data in your Sage 50 database, this waiting period may be short or long. A wait time of up to 5 minutes should be considered normal for large or complex reports.
If your report is taking a very long time to Refresh, there are a number of things you can try:
- Verify the parameters (ex: dates for the period) to make sure there are no errors.
- Close Excel and restart the Sage 50 database service, then try running the report again. See How to stop or start the Actian Zen database engine
- Review the queries for your report, as they may need to be further optimized. This is a very technical process; if you do not have the required expertise available, contact our support team for help. (fees may apply)
