Connecting to a Sage 50 Canadian edition company
These instructions are only for Sage 50 Canadian edition
To Connect to a Sage 50 Canadian edition company:
- Click the Logicim XLGL ribbon tab, then click "connect". The connection panel will open on the left of the window.
- Click "new connection", then "Sage 50 Canada".
- Verify the filename and path to ensure you are connecting to the correct company. By default, XLGL will find the last company file used on your system, if one is available, and configure the connection for you. You can compare it to the file path in Sage 50. To do so, in Sage 50, click the file menu, then "properties".
- Click "browse" and navigate to the proper SAI file for your company if you wish to change the company file. Then click "open" when you are done.
- Name the connection. The connection name can be anything you want, which is useful if you are using multiple company files.
- Set the username. By default, it is "sysadmin.". You can change it to another user configured in your Sage 50 company file. If you do not have any users configured in Sage 50, just leave "sysadmin". To connect successfully, a one-time configuration of the user may be necessary to assign it third-party rights. To do so, in Sage 50:
- Click the setup menu.
- Click "set up users and roles".
- Select the user you wish to configure and click "modify user".
- Look for the "Rights with third-party products" section. To utilize Logicim XLGL, give "read-only access" or "read-write access." Click "ok," then click "close."
- Enter the user password if one is set. If not, you can leave it blank.
- Click "connect" to open the connection. The red light beside the connection name will turn yellow, then green when the connection is established.
Congratulations! You are now connected to your Sage 50 company file!
